thekarlos "Shutdown the Sun" and "From the Ashes of Electric Elves" are two of my favorite records from the early 00s.Excited to have some new tunes from these guys. I don't know if they would describe themselves as power pop, but I put them in that bucket. Catchy as hell melodies, driving rhythms, and chunky guitars. So damn good.

about

(From Mike) This is an album of some tunes I wrote and recorded at my house over the 2nd half of 2022. Philosophers will argue about this, but since my insanely awesome bandmates (Patrick, Bob, Jim, Dan, Hofer) didn't play on it, it may or may not be classifiable as "a legit Oranger record."

Whatever... I had the tunes and they sounded a lot like Oranger songs to me. In my defense, there was a lot of "what would Matt do" all over these tunes, and to me it felt like a collaboration. I also almost busted a gasket singing some of those high harmonies that Matt would do so effortlessly, and I spent some time actually thinking about the guitar solos to meet the very high bar of shredditude Matt would always hit first take.

Anyway, I hope the 31 or so of you who are following Oranger on Bandcamp will get some enjoyment from these.

Oranger is a San Francisco psych/rock band. Lots of people have been in the band, some without realizing it until it was too late. This latest incarnation is Mike, Jim and Matt doing lockdown recording for no reason. These are just tunes we like and wanted to play. ... more
